In his book “The Garrick Club – A History”, Geoffrey Wansell begins his prologue:

“The Garrick Club is not haunted – at least not as far as anyone knows – but there are ghosts everywhere nonetheless.

The moment that you walk up the stone steps from the street and push open the first pair of double doors, the past seems to sweep over you like a giant breath exhaled by the old, dark, soft stucco-fronted building”

We hope our exciting new website for the world famous Garrick Club in London, which we’ve recently produced and launched, has captured some of this atmosphere.

Founded in 1831, its patrons have included such luminaries as Laurence Olivier, John Gielgud, Alec Guinness, Charles Dickens, J.M. Barrie, A.A. Milne, Elgar to name just a few!

The website design pays tribute to the character and tradition of the club whilst providing a complementary modern and easy-to-use interface for the site visitor.
Amongst its key features is the secure members’ area, which includes an ambitious members messaging system. Also popular are the online galleries that appear in the public and members areas.

The project turned into a true labour of love and we were privileged to see the fantastic collections of theatrical paintings, portraits and drawings and the theatrical library containing the rare manuscripts and documents, the valuable collection of play-texts and thousands of playbills and theatre programmes.
Many of these elements can be found whilst exploring the new website.
